General InsuraWedding FAQs

1. What is Wedding Insurance?

Wedding insurance is a type of policy that offers financial protection for various aspects of a wedding. It’s specifically designed to cover certain risks that could affect the wedding celebrations. The coverage is subject to the terms outlined in the policy documents and includes maximum claim limits for different types of claims.

In essence, wedding insurance helps couples safeguard their investment in their wedding day by providing compensation if things go wrong.

2. Why do we need Wedding Insurance?

When planning what will be one of the biggest and most expensive days of your life, no-one really wants to think of what might go wrong. Sadly, however, weddings do sometimes have to be cancelled or re-arranged for a wide range of different reasons and Wedding Insurance is there to help make sure that you don't lose money as a result. Even if the day goes ahead, other problems can arise, and Wedding Insurance helps you to sort them out and pay for unexpected additional costs.

3. What does Wedding Insurance cover?

  • Tier 3 - £44
  • Tier 4 - £50

5. Is Wedding Insurance paid monthly?

No - InsuraWedding Wedding Insurance is a one-off payment, showing what excellent value for money it is.

6. When should we take out Wedding Insurance?

Ideally, you should take out Wedding Insurance as soon as you have paid any deposits or signed a contract that means you will lose money if you're forced to change your plans. You can arrange our insurance at any time up to 24 months before your big day.

However, all InsuraWedding policies must be purchased at least 14 days in advance of the scheduled ceremony date.

7. Who can buy Wedding Insurance?

Anyone can buy an InsuraWedding Wedding Insurance policy, for instance parents of the Marrying Couple, but the policy must be in the Marrying Couple's name as it is their wedding being covered.

8. Does Wedding Insurance cover relative's money?

InsuraWedding Wedding Insurance will cover money paid by relatives of the couple, providing they have a demonstrable financial interest, such as a receipt or booking confirmation.

All claims will have to be submitted by the insured couple and then passed on to the person who paid.

9. What if one of us decides not to go ahead with the marriage after all?

This is known as "disinclination to proceed" and is not insured, sadly.

10. Is family bereavement covered by Wedding Insurance?

Cancellation or rearrangements due to family bereavement is covered under section 1A of the InsuraWedding policy if it makes going ahead with the wedding inappropriate. However, you must answer the medical declaration for the policy in respect of all people whom your wedding plans depend before you purchase the policy. If you answer yes to any of the medical questions regarding a relative, you will not be covered in relation to that medical condition. You will of course be covered for anything unrelated to that relative's condition.

If you are in doubt please contact us on 01483 806 828, before you purchase the policy.

11. What if one of us decides not to go ahead with the marriage after all?

Most existing medical conditions are insured automatically, both for the Marrying Couple and their close relatives. There is no cover, however, for Pre-existing medical conditions that have resulted in a terminal prognosis or where the condition is awaiting treatment or investigation at a hospital or you're awaiting the results of tests or investigations, unless you have declared details to us, and we have agreed to insure them. You can call us to discuss a medical condition on 01483 806 828.

12. Does the InsuraWedding policy have an excess?

Yes, there is an excess of £150 applicable under all sections of the policy, except for sections 5 which has an excess of £60 and sections 8, 9, 10, 11 which have an excess of £250.

13. How can I contact InsuraWedding about a general enquiry?
