Key Terms Explained
- Accident/Accidental: An unexpected event that causes physical injury, occurring suddenly and without any other contributing causes.
- Additional Costs: The extra expenses incurred when rearranging your wedding or reception compared to the original cost.
- Adverse Weather: Severe weather conditions that disrupt travel, preventing most guests from reaching the wedding venue.
- Attendants: Non-professional participants in the wedding, such as bridesmaids and groomsmen.
- Bodily Injury: A physical injury caused by a sudden, external, violent, and visible event.
- Bridal Attire: The bride’s formal clothing and accessories, whether hired or owned.
- Ceremonial Attire: Formal clothing and accessories worn by the marrying couple, their attendants, and their parents, excluding ceremonial swords.
- Civil Partnership: A legally recognised union of two people with similar rights to marriage.
- Coronavirus: Refers to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including any mutations and the disease COVID-19.
- Epidemic: A widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time.
- Event Equipment: Items like staging, chairs, tables, and audio-visual equipment used for the wedding or reception, whether hired, leased, or owned.
- Home: Your permanent residential address in the United Kingdom, unless otherwise agreed and confirmed in writing.
- Marquee: A hired marquee or tent, including gazebos, staging, and lighting. The hire period must not exceed three days unless agreed in writing.
- Marrying Couple: The individuals getting married, whether brides, grooms, or civil partners.
- Mobile W.C. Unit: Hired temporary lavatory facilities, including fixtures and fittings. The hire period must not exceed three days unless agreed in writing.
- Pandemic: An epidemic that has spread across a large region.
- Period of Insurance: The duration of the insurance cover as defined in each section of the policy.
- Relative: Includes your spouse/partner, (step) parents, grandparents, (step) children, grandchildren, and siblings.
- Resident: A person who lives permanently in the United Kingdom.
- United Kingdom: Includes England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.
- Wedding: A legally recognised marriage ceremony, including civil partnerships and similar events such as vow renewals.
- Wedding Date: The specific date of the wedding ceremony as listed on the insurance certificate.
- Wedding Gifts: Presents given to the marrying couple, including cash and vouchers.
- Wedding Reception: The celebration following the wedding ceremony, including room hire and catering, held within 21 days of the wedding.
- Wedding Rings: The rings exchanged by the marrying couple during the wedding ceremony.
- Wedding Services: Traditional services for a wedding celebration, such as photography, video operation, wedding planning, floral arrangements, transport, guest accommodation, toastmaster, venue, cake, catering, entertainment, and more. Gift list providers are not included.
- We, Our, and Us: Refers to Acasta European Insurance Company Limited.
- You and Your: Refers to the marrying couple named on the insurance certificate or, in specific sections, any relatives who made significant financial contributions to the wedding plans.
